RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver

From OpenTom

Jump to: navigation, search

The TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver gets traffic information on the go to your TomTom based on the Traffic Message Channel. For the one-off cost of the receiver you can get traffic updates and let your TomTom reroute you around congestion.

By simply connecting the TomTom device to the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver, you will automatically receive traffic information via the TMC connection. Once a journey is planned, traffic alerts which relate to the route are clearly displayed in the traffic bar on the right hand side of the screen. When you tap the icon shown in the traffic bar, you will receive further information, such as the cause or kind of delay to traffic, such as an accident or traffic jam.

First version: with a round serial connector

TomTom has 3 revisions from this produkt. The first one model 4V00.00 has a poor radio quality, dont't buy it! The 4V00.00 hast the "egg" on the end of the cable and use the data cable as antenne. The last model 4V00.013 is faster and receive more radio stations in a better quality. The 4V00.013 has on the other end from the "egg" a longer wire antenne.

Second version: with a USB connector

There are two versions, one with a round serial connector for TomTom One 3th edition, ONE XL, GO 929, GO 930, etc. And a version with USB connector. Check with your operating manual or TomTom web page what ist the correct version for your device.

USB Version

As of 2010, only the USB version is available for all the devices (it works also on devices that were designed to use the version with the round serial connector such as TomTom One if the navcore is updated to the latest versions).[1] The other version was removed from the market because of poor reception.
