Some general Information about the hardware:

General Info
The GO seems to be originally developed by Mistral Software Pvt. Ltd., located in Bangalore, India. They have a Smart Handheld Design that basically is a TTGO without GPS and accelerometer. It is assumed that those two components were added on contract for TomTom B.V..
Open the box
To open your TomTom Go, first remove the front cover. After that you can remove four Torx T8 screws. You need a real Torx screwdriver to get the screws removed. Torx bits won't fit into the holes. You can get a matching screwdriver at Reichelt Electronics in Germany. The CK brand of tools in the UK are also good for this
To open a 910 (and supposedly 710 and 510 too), first remove the front cover. Then remove the 4 Torx screws (they're T6 screws) located under the ends of the long rubber pads at the bottom of the unit. Push gently from the mount hole near the connector, and the inside will move out.
Preliminary info about 910
All the major chips in 910 are protected by metal housing, making their inspection tedious.
The reset switch seems to be located next to the connector. There is a corresponding small hole in the housing. One can use a clip pin to press the button.
